Obrazovanje

Profesorica Maja Bohač završila je Medicinski fakultet Sveučilišta u Zagrebu te specijalizaciju iz oftalmologije pod mentorstvom prof. dr. sc. Nikice Gabrića.

Usavršavanje iz područja refraktivne kirurgije započela je pod mentorstvom prof. dr. sc. Gabrića te dodatnim usavršavanjem u Londonu, Zürichu, Barceloni, Kölnu i Strasbourgu.
U znanstvenom obrazovanju prof. dr. sc. Bohač završila je poslijediplomski studij Biomedicina i zdravstvo na Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.

U travnju 2017. obranila je doktorski rad na temu: “Usporedbe mehaničkih mikrokeratoma i femtosecond lasera” i stekla titulu doktora znanosti.
Znanstveno - nastavno zvanje naslovne docentice pri Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Rijeci na temu: ”Refrakcijska kirurgija rožnice” ostvaruje 2021. godine.
Znanstveno - nastavno zvanje naslovni izvanredni profesor pri Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Rijeci ostvaruje 2026. godine.
 

Područje rada

Prof. dr. sc. Bohač bavi se kirurgijom prednjeg segmenta oka

Profesorica Bohač izvodi lasersko skidanja dioptrije, operaciju sive mrene (katarakte), ugradnju premium intraokularnih leća i ICL leća. Unutar Odsjeka za refraktivnu kirurgiju zadužena je za vođenje tima od 10 refraktivnih kirurga te uvođenje novih tehnologija iz područja laserske refraktivne kirurgije u svrhu dodatnog unaprjeđenja rezultata.

Posebna specijalnost su joj laserske operacije na kompliciranim slučajevima - ožiljcima i oštećenjima rožnice te prethodnim refraktivnim zahvatima bilo koje vrste. Prof. dr. sc. Bohač je do sada izvela više od 30.000 laserskih operacija te aktivno educira 14 kolega. Svoje je znanje i iskustvo gradila radeći u Hrvatskoj, Srbiji, Crnoj Gori, Bosni i Hercegovini te Sjevernoj Makedoniji, kontinuirano doprinoseći razvoju refraktivne kirurgije u regiji.
 

Uvođenje novih metoda

Među prvim je liječnicima na ovim prostorima koji su počeli koristiti femtosecond lasere.

Jedna je od prvih doktora koji se bave laserskim skidanjem čitalačke dioptrije te je prvi doktor koji je u regiji izveo novu vrstu laserskog skidanja dioptrije - lentikularnu kirurgiju.

Publikacije i istraživanja

Objavila je 45 radova indeksiranih u CC-u, od kojih su najznačajniji radovi vezani za tretiranje visokog astigmatizma excimer laserima.

Članstvo u udrugama

Članica je Internacionalnog društva za refraktivnu kirurgiji (ISRS), Europskog udruženja za kataraktu i refraktivnu kirurgije (ESCRS), Hrvatskog društva za kataraktu i refraktivnu kirurgiju te Hrvatskog oftalmološkog i optometrijskog društva.

Prof. dr. sc. Maja Bohač član je organizacijskog odbora Hrvatskog društva liječnika za kirurgiju katarakte i refraktivnu kirurgiju (CSCRS). Redovito sudjeluje kao aktivni predavač i edukator na godišnjim sastancima istih.
