On March 1st, physicians of the Svjetlost Eye Clinic in Zagreb, among the first in Europe, installed the Tecnis Eyhance intraocular lens of the Johnson & Johnson Vision pharmaceutical company.
Nowadays, cataract surgery is safe, effective, painless and fast, with a short recovery period and a return to everyday activities. During the surgery, blurred lens (cataract) is removed and a clear, artificial intraocular lens is inserted.
The Tecnis Eyehance intraocular lens is the latest technology that reduces the need for wearing eyeglasses in patients who had undergone cataract surgery.
On March 1st, physicians of the Svjetlost Eye Clinic in Zagreb, among the first in Europe, installed the intraocular lens Tecnis Eyhance of the Johnson & Johnson Vision pharmaceutical company.
Tecnis Eyhance is a monofocal intraocular lens that provides patients with, besides good vision, good eyesight without glasses, to so-called intermediate or medium distance (65-80 cm). This means that patients with the Tecnis Eyhance lens do not have to wear glasses when driving, watching TV, at the cinema, the theater, etc.
Thanks to the so- called continuous "high order" aspheric technology and the reduction of chromatic aberrations, this lens gives excellent vision quality. As opposed to other monofocal lenses, Tecnis Eyhance enables high independence of glasses for working on computer, cooking, and other daily activities we perform at a distance between 60 cm and one metre. Part of the patients can even read without glasses, but most of them still need glasses for close-up work.
The standard, so far available monofocal intraocular lenses give the patient good vision at a distance without glasses, but for all other distances they need to be used. Tecnis Eyhance provides equally good vision at a distance compared to other monofocal lenses but also a significantly better vision without glasses at a medium distance.
High vision clarity is also very important due to aspheric and achromatic technology and proven long-term optical stability.
This lens, like all monofocal lenses, does not interfere in conditions of weaker light, dusk, night driving, etc.
First experiences at the Svjetlost Eye Clinic, after 40 implanted lenses, shows that more than 90% of the patients use glasses only for close proximity (30-40 cm). A positive and pleasant surprise is the fact that 25% of patients do not use glasses at all.
Tecnis Eyhance is a new, exciting, intraocular lens technology that provides patients with a high-quality vision with greater independence of glasses compared to the current monofocal intraocular lenses.
